I had previously documented Anil’s sisters wedding earlier in the year, and it was like being reunited with family. It didn’t take me long to get into the swing of things, with all their pre-wedding events over the weekend such as the Maiya at their home, and their Jago at Holiday Inn. It was a perfect way for his family and friends to get in the mood for what was sure to be an epic wedding day.
As well as documenting Anil’s events, Mannika had her own celebrations underway at Stockley Park Golf Course for her Sangheet. The amazing decor and delicious food provided by Red Cube Events ensured that everyone on her side of the family were equally in a celebratory mood.
After two days of ceremonies, parties and good times, the big day finally arrived. Starting at the family homes of both sides and capturing all that was happening, we made our way to the impressive Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha to document the two families coming together.
Anil arrived in style in a classic Rolls Royce, then on a white horse accompanying the bhaarat to greet the brides side outside the Gurdwara. Once inside, the Milani ceremony proceeded, before their ceremony inside the Gurdwara. It was pin drop silence as Mannika made her way in, looking stunning in her gorgeous dress designed by Lavanya London. The ceremony was impeccably observed, and it really gave me the opportunity to capture all the traditions, reactions and emotions of both the couple and their guests.
After the conclusion of the wedding, it was a short trip to the stunning Sofitel Heathrow London for the start of their reception. The hall decoration and setup by Floco Flowers was absolutely jaw-dropping. It was clear to see it was going to be a memorable night.
As the guests made their way in to the hall from the champagne reception, you could see and feel the excitement building for the arrival of the newlyweds. Finally, with around 900 people (yes, you read that right!) in the hall upstanding, the parents of the couple made their entrance followed by Anil and Mannika to cut their cake. Entertainment and music was provided by Jags Klimax, and the dancefloor was hardly empty the whole night. The amazing food was provided by Madhu’s.
It was an absolute pleasure being part of Anil and Mannika’s events, culminating in a party to end all parties. The scale of their wedding and reception made documenting it a whole lot of fun. There was always something to capture, and none more so than the happy couple themselves. Thank you both again for choosing me to document all your events. I can genuinely say I feel like an honorary part of your families.
It was hard to narrow down images that summed up their entire day, but I have given it a go:
