Yatish & Nisha’s Indian engagement
I had the absolute pleasure in documenting Yatish & Nisha’s Indian engagement at his family home in South London.
Coming from Texas, Nisha could not have chosen weather further from anything she is used to in the States. ‘The Beast from the East II’ made its way over once again and covered the UK with snow and freezing conditions. However, everyone was in high spirits, and nothing was going to get in the way of having a fun day of celebrations.
The day started with a traditional Indian ceremony, the Ganesh Puja, performed by a Priest in a marquee in their back garden. After both sets of parents and the couple performed their ceremonies, Yatish & Nisha were formally engaged and brought the two families together.
The snow was still coming down during the ceremony and continued to do so the whole day. However Yatish & Nisha were still up for some portraits outside, and we managed to get a few minutes before the cold ready took hold.
The focus now switched to the evenings events, where many more family and friends were invited to celebrate with the family for their engagement party. I love attention to detail, and this party had it all. From bespoke signature cocktails, a sweets table and a mirror photo booth to name just a few, there was plenty for their guests to enjoy. They even had their own hashtag! – #yatgotbhagged.
With many of Nisha’s family and friends making the trip across the Atlantic, there was a great vibe and genuine excitement for the rest of the evening.
It was a really fun day to be part of. As an Asian wedding photographer in London, I was able to capture so many moments during their Indian engagement and party. Congratulations to the happy couple, and here are some of the highlights from their day:
