Vasishta & Aneela

“These are gorgeous! So many beautiful candid shots – thank you so much!’

Wedding & Reception | The Renaissance at Kelham Hall | Nottinghamshire

An incredible day full of fun, good vibes and love.

As an Asian Wedding Photographer, I get to experience and visit many different locations and venues, as well as work with awesome people. Vasishta (Vash) & Aneela’s wedding was that and so much more.

A Setting Fit For An Amazing Ocassion

Their wedding was held at The Renaissance at Kelham Hall in Nottinghamshire, and a first time for me. It’s a venue full of beauty, character and history, and one that was so much fun to photograph in.

I had learnt about Vash & Aneela plans during their pre-wed portrait session a few weeks earlier, which gave me an idea of the vibe they were after. It was also a great chance to get to know about them as people and what they were into.

Fast forward to their day in late summer, it all started at Aneela’s family home in Nottingham. For me, it kind of set the tone for the entire day. Friends and family were filling up the house, and the atmosphere was one of excitement and a few nerves. Aneela and her entourage would travel in style to Kelham Hall via a classic red double decker London bus, bringing all the energy as they arrived at the venue.

A Lively, Colourful Start

While Aneela hid away in one of the rooms in the venue, Vash and his guests arrived on site and were congregating for the start of the grooms arrival. One thing that I immediately observed were how many friends from both sides were in attendance. It just proved how popular Vash & Aneela were, with the excitement levels already high.

The dhol players and brass band provided the soundtrack which was the cue for the start of the procession. The groom and his guests made their way towards the main building amongst a cloud of smoke flairs, wild dancing and singing. It was a lively entrance which would get even more lively once both families greeted each other.

A Ceremony Full Of Smiles

After a short breakfast, people headed inside to take their seats in the Carriage Court. It was a beautiful setting for the celebrant ceremony. As Vash was waiting at the front, it wasn’t long before Aneela was walking down the aisle with her father. Both Vash & Aneela were beaming as they saw each other, and the smiles never disappeared throughout the ceremony.

Once the emotional ceremony concluded, guests made their way out onto the lawn for the confetti throwing, as Vash & Aneela made their way down one of the longest lines i’ve seen! It took a while getting all that confetti out of their hair, especially as it was time for the portraits session.

Having scouted The Renaissance at Kelham Hall when I arrived earlier during the day, I had earmarked a few spots for portraits. There were so many to choose from, but I had formulated a plan to maximise the number of locations in the time we had.

Having had their pre-wed session a few weeks earlier, Vash & Aneela soon got into their groove and were calm and relaxed during their portraits. This is always a bonus during portraits, as you are more likely to get more natural and creative shots.

Ending An Epic Day With A Bang

Meanwhile, guests were enjoying a drinks reception and playing lawn games in the late summer sun. With everyone refreshed, they made their way into the impressive Great Hall to take in the occasion and their seats. It wasn’t long before Vash & Aneela were welcomed into the reception amongst huge cheers.

The guests provided the energy all night, which only increased as the reception went on. Cake cutting, speeches and first dance followed with all the emotions on show. There was even time for a little surprise for Aneela, organised by Vash, in the form of fireworks. As everyone made their way back into the venue, the dancing continued well into the evening, providing a fitting end to an amazing day of celebration.

As an Asian Wedding Photographer, I loved everything about Vash & Aneela’s wedding. From the venue to their guests, as well as to them, I had the best time documenting their wedding. They were so much fun to work with and it really shows in their images. On that note, here are some highlights from their day. Enjoy!
