Neel & Ashna

“Ahhh Bhav this is amazing!!! We absolutely LOVE the pics!’

Hindu wedding in Leicester | Family residence

Since lockdown (remember those days?!), weddings at home have become more and more popular. So when Neel & Ashna got in touch and told me about their plans, I was looking forward to being a part of their big day.

The setting – Ashna’s beautiful family residence in Leicester. The mandap was set up in their lovely garden by Max Events with beautiful floral arrangements. I got to the house early on the day, while the brides family were calmly adding the finishing touches to the decor and house. These are the moments I really enjoy capturing. When people are just going about their day, it all adds up to the story of the wedding.

While the garden and set up was taking shape, Ashna was upstairs getting ready and as calm as I have seen any bride, but with a sprinkling of nervous excitement. I can only imagine how excited she would have been, getting married in her own family residence on such a beautiful day. And on that note, the skies were pretty grey at the start, but we all knew that wouldn’t last long. And pretty soon, the sun began to burn away those clouds to reveal beautiful, blue summer skies.

Arriving in style

It wasn’t long before Neel turned up in style – in a classic Mustang, rumbling down the drive. It was a brave choice, especially with no AC on one of the hottest days of the summer. Despite the heat, he looked unfazed by it, and looked equally as excited as he made his way down Ashna’s drive followed by his family.

It was an intimate, but by no means quiet jaan arrival. The noise levels ramped up as both sets of families greeted each other and made their way into the garden for the arrival of the groom. Once the ceremony was underway, it wasn’t long before it was Ashna’s turn to walk down the aisle. She was beaming as she was accompanied by her two brother-in-laws to meet the man she was about to marry.

One thing was for sure, we were not going to be short of smiles and laughs. Not only from the bride and groom, but also from their guests. The setting was perfect for an intimate wedding as guests were sheltering from the sun with umbrellas. It was almost like a destination wedding!

A beautiful ceremony in the heat

The Hindu wedding in Leicester was beautifully conducted by Chandrika Joshi, who performed it quickly and efficiently. Mainly because the early afternoon sun was starting to ramp up it’s heat. However, the beautiful ceremonies and traditions were not lost, and it was a joy being there to document all that happened. There is always something really special about outdoor wedding ceremonies. For me, the colours seem to become more vibrant and there was no shortage of it. Not to mention the good vibes and happy emotions – this wedding had it all.

After the ceremony had concluded and lunch ended, we took the opportunity to grab some beautiful portraits in their garden. We then headed to a nearby park to get a few more portraits and further variety, taking advantage of the gorgeous British summer weather.

As an Asian Wedding Photographer in Leicester, this wedding had it all for me. There was never a dull moment, and the guests were all genuinely excited throughout the day. It was certainly a challenge working outside in such hot conditions, but you have to make the most of these things right?

So here are some amazing highlights from Neel & Ashna’s gorgeous Hindu wedding in Leicester – enjoy!
