“The pictures brought back great memories of the night! They’re really great images!’
Wedding Reception | The Brewery | Barbican, London
A spectacular Arabian Nights themed reception for a beautiful couple.
The Middle East… In Barbican
If you’d let your mind wander, you’d convince yourself that you were transported to the mystical Middle East. But alas, we were bang in the middle of Barbican at The Brewery, otherwise known as the ‘concrete jungle’.
Kudos Music and Peekaboo Events provided the stunning visuals. A brick blank canvas in The Brewery had been transformed and the set up looked incredible.
Jas & Reena soon arrived to inspect the venue and were blown away. With a few final adjustments, they were all ready for their portraits before guests arrived.
They had pushed back their wedding reception. Mainly so they were able to host more guests and to have the best party. They recently got married a few months prior, and they were definitely looking forward to today.
Portraits with an iconic urban backdrop
The Brewery is located in a busy, bustling part of Barbican. But anywhere you go here, you’re not far from the famous Barbican Estate with it’s ‘brutalist’ style of architecture. And that was where we were heading for the portraits.
When Jas & Reena first contacted me, we discussed their event in detail. When I suggested The Barbican Estate for portraits, they were really up for it. It’s such a unique development with interesting textures and structures. Plus it provides a beautiful juxtaposition between mundane and contemporary.
And in our case, the contemporary were our beautiful couple! We only had a few minutes before they wanted to join the drinks reception, but we made every moment count. We didn’t have to venture that far to get some great variety, and in every frame, Jas & Reena smashed it.
It wasn’t long before we had to depart and make our way back to the venue.
Ramping up the energy
By this time, it was filling up steadily with guests for the drinks reception. Jessica Bollywood Violinist was providing the entertainment as guests enjoyed the canapés and drinks. Jas & Reena were also enjoying this moment with their friends and family, and you could tell it was going to be an epic night.
The main venue was curtained off to the guests. However, there was an audible ‘oooooh’ as the curtains were pulled back revealing the stunning decor.
The room soon filled up with guests, taking their seats for the start of the speeches. And the fireworks continued for the first dance, and the dance floor didn’t empty for the rest of the night.
As an Asian Wedding Photographer in London, this reception has to be up there with one of the best I’ve captured. It was pure fun from start to finish, a joy documenting the happiness on Jas & Reena’s faces all night. Here are some highlights from their epic night:
