Clayton & Kanwal’s pre-wed shoot at this stunning location was like something out of a movie scene

When Clayton & Kanwal first got in touch with me for ideas for their pre-wed shoot in London, The Hill Garden and Pergola in Hampstead, London, was right at the top of the list for me to suggest. I have had the pleasure photographing here numerous times in the past and it never ceases to amaze me how stunning the location is.

It has become extremely popular in recent years for photo shoots, and its status as a ‘hidden’ gem is rapidly decreasing. However, a gem it certainly remains. And Clayton & Kanwal were definitely dressed for the part, and in particular Kanwal, with her strikingly stunning blue dress.

We started by exploring the woodlands around the Pergola and searching for the breaks of early morning light for some more natural, classic portraits. It didn’t taken them long to get into their stride and they soon became very comfortable in front of the camera.

In fact, Clayton & Kanwal became so comfortable, I rarely had to direct them with poses. That way, we got the most natural portraits and they just let their true personalities and relationship with each other shine through.

It was a super fun session and I think that shows in their images. Here are a few highlights from their engagement shoot:

The Hill Garden & Pergola

The Pergola is one of the hidden delights of Hampstead Heath. It overlooks West Heath, and was the dream of William H Lever, later Lord Leverhulme, a wealthy idealist, patron of the arts, architecture and landscape gardening; and Thomas Mawson, the celebrated landscape architect.
