Justin & Brooklyn

“So happy with how the pictures have come out. Honestly, mine and Justin’s portraits are stunning!’
Wedding & Reception | 116 Pall Mall | London
When I look back at weddings that stick in my memory the most, Justin & Brooklyn’s incredible day at 116 Pall Mall is at the forefront
I had an idea about how awesome their day was going to be during their pre-wed shoot. That particular day didn’t go totally to plan (thanks to the torrential rain all morning). However, I got to witness their love and personalities first-hand, and how great it was working with them.
An iconic location for a wedding
Fast forward to their wedding, and the weather certainly wasn’t going to dampen any spirits. Mainly because it was a warm, early Autumns day in Central London.
Central London weddings always have a different vibe to me. There’s something really awe-inspiring about driving around the empty streets early in the morning. You can really take in the sights, and none more so than Buckingham Palace. I think I drove past it a few times while trying to find the venue!
But 116 Pall Mall was almost a stones-throw away from the Queen’s House, and was looking equally as splendid.
It was my first time at this venue, hence wanting to arrive early and scout out the place and surroundings. The ceremony was to be held in front of the Duke of York statue on an impressive staircase, which would be flanked on all sides by their guests.
It wasn’t long before Justin arrived, ready to go with his groomsmen. While he was making last minute preparations, I made my way over to Nobu Hotel where Brooklyn was getting ready. Mandy from Aphrodites was working her magic with the hair and makeup when I arrived.
The finishing touches were applied, including Brooklyn’s brothers placing her chura (bangles) on her. There were also a few tears as Brooklyn’s sisters saw her for the first time in her wedding outfit.
The excitement starts to build
Back at the venue, there was a buzz in the air. Guests filtered out from the breakfast room to the staircase, getting in position for the ceremony. Justin was already in place with their families either side of him. There were also a few familiar faces in the crowd. Justin and his family come from a boxing background, and the atmosphere was almost like you’d expect ringside! The anticipation and excitement levels were high.
Shortly after everyone had settled, Brooklyn, accompanied by her brother, made their way up the grand staircase to meet the beaming Justin.
It was an incredibly emotional moment as Brooklyn looked around at all their friends and family watching on. The ceremony was a pure celebration, full of joy and laughter. As the vows were read and rings exchanged, there were loud cheers as Justin & Brooklyn were named husband and wife.
Round the corner from the 116 Pall Mall are a large set of steps, overlooked by the Duke of York monument. Straight after the signing of the register, the entire wedding congregation made their way to the steps for a huge group photo. It was an impressive sight, which also drew attention from other tourists in the area who took their own photos!
From there, guests departed to get ready for the reception while myself, Justin & Brooklyn headed towards the nearby Horse Guards Parade for portraits.
The sun, by this time, was out and casting beautiful light on us. Justin & Brooklyn looked amazing and they really enjoyed the portraits session. They were open to ideas and believed in my vision. I also showed them a few shots from the back of my camera and were instantly blown away. They both smashed it and I think it really shows in their portraits.
They also received more attention from tourists milling around, and even gave a few selfie ops to some of them!
A party to end all parties
After a midday break, guests made their way into the reception room following the drinks reception. The set up by Plush Decor looked incredible as guests took in their seats. Once settled, it was time for Justin & Brooklyn to make their lively entrance.
With dinner, speeches and cake cutting complete, the first dance set the tone for the rest of the party. DJ Nilz kept the dance floor bouncing all night with great tunes which in parts, almost turned into a full on rave! People were just having a great time and it was an absolute blast being in the crowd, capturing all the antics.
Justin & Brooklyn were one of the nicest people I have worked with. They were so chilled throughout the day and trusted my vision and process in capturing their wedding. As a London Wedding Photographer, I have had the pleasure in photographing many multicultural weddings. But this one has to be up there as one of my favourites.
Every part of their day was incredible, which made it tough for me to narrow down a selection for their story. But on that note, here are some highlights of their epic day. Enjoy!
